I hope this is helpful to someone because this took waaaay longer to do than I was anticipating.  I chose to use the shoe company Carmina as the base for this as they make most models and have good pictures.  As you can tell hopefully, this chart goes from Formal at the top, down to most Informal at the bottom.  I'm sure there are plenty of criticisms, so here are some things I considered/am considering/up for discussion:

- Is a black derby more formal than a mid-brown oxford?

- One could probably argue a conservative colored suede oxford is more formal than a more aggressively designed derby.  

- All the "wholecuts" are below "Cap Toes" in formality for now.

- Could some of the more conservative "Double Monks" be ranked higher in formality?
